Optimer Brands Appoints New Vice President of Merchandising
CHICAGO, Ill.— Optimer Brands, the Company behind the DRIFIRE® brand of high performance flame resistant fabrics and work wear, and drirelease®, the patented fabric technology that enables brands to create performance apparel, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Weiss to vice president of merchandising.
Weiss brings demonstrated success from large brands like Levi Strauss & Co., JC Penney, and GAP, Inc. His proven track record for results-oriented merchandising focuses on strategy, assortment architecture and product. As vice president of merchandising, Weiss will be responsible for creating the overall merchandising strategy and overseeing implementation.

Weiss joins Optimer Brands notably from Levi Strauss & Co. where he was responsible for revenue and profitability of Levi’s $2.5B global men’s bottoms product line. He created long term and seasonal business strategies, product architecture, key looks and recommended assortments. Implementing innovative solutions to the men’s bottoms category created fresh ideas around fiber content, fabric, construction and fit.
Weiss holds a BA from Harvard University and an MBA from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management.
