Performance Apparel with FR Moisture Management

Too many performance clothing providers believe merely adding the word 'performance' to their label or brand makes for a viable performance apparel solution. At DRIFIRE, we think you're entitled to a lot more than just the word. You're entitled to a garment option that pays strict adherence to a set of important, specific performance clothing qualities. In fact, we think an objective 'apples to apples' definition of performance wear is long overdue in the industry, and we know why many others are not as anxious to go there.

Quality Performance Apparel for Moisture Management and Comfort

Performance shirts you can't wait to strip off at the end of the day do not qualify as performance apparel to DRIFIRE, even if they keep you cool and dry. If performance shirts are comfortable when you're inert, but pool and trap moisture when you become active, we don't consider it to be 'performance' apparel either.

True performance clothing hunts down and disperses moisture like the enemy it is to anyone who must go harder, longer, further, or faster with peak periods of exertion and intervals of cool down in all kinds of weather, hot or cold, cold to hot, and back again. Performance clothing has to wick. It must transfer the moisture quickly over the biggest possible expanse of garment fabric, and it must dry fast always and repeatedly.

Performance clothing should be almost as comfortable as your own skin. It should move when you do, the way you do. It shouldn't bunch. It shouldn't rub you the wrong way with bulky seams in all the wrong places. It should stretch in directions modeled after the way humans move, not mannequins. By our definition, performance apparel should be so comfortable you should want to wear it even during times of inactivity because it's comfortable. That's the DRIFIRE Performance Standard. That's what our performance apparel achieves.

Performance Clothing with Power: Engineered Flame Resistance

DRIFIRE garments are flame resistant, but you may wonder what that really means. How is flame resistance achieved? How do flame resistant fabrics work? Can flame resistant workwear save lives and prevent injuries?

While DRIFIRE garments have been designed to provide best-in-class performance, they were also engineered to provide flame resistant protection with flame resistant fabrics. These fabrics made with modacrylic fibers invented by Union Carbide in 1949 offer uses in addition to performance shirts and apparel, including children's clothing, plush toys, carpeting, furniture upholstery and wigs.

Modacrylic is the fiber of choice for performance clothing due to the combination of flame resistance and soft feel that is comfortable for everyday use. DRIFIRE uses modacrylic fiber as the flame resistance foundation for our DRIFIRE performance apparel and flame retardant fabrics because it meets the defined requirements of flame resistance, comfort, and compatibility with the Dri-release performance technology patent.

Modacrylic is a no melt, no drip, self-extinguishing fiber that forms a char-barrier when exposed to intense heat and/or flame. Like other FR fibers, DRIFIRE actively works to maintain fabric integrity by off-gassing in the presence of flame to starve the fire of oxygen. After extinguishing the flame, an inert char-barrier cools the fabric immediately and will not melt or drip onto the skin.

DRIFIRE offers flame retardant performance clothing made with uniquely flame resistant fabrics, but our performance shirts and apparel are not flameproof. DRIFIRE is self-extinguishing and designed to provide a layer or multiple layers of no melt, no drip protection and increasing levels of Thermal Protective Properties (depending on the weight of the fabric). DRIFIRE flame resistance fabrics are not intended for protection from prolonged exposure to flame and misuse could cause significant bodily harm. However, our flame resistant fabrics use advanced science to create more protection from conditions like flash fires.

DRIFIRE actually engineers flame resistant capabilities into the fabric with modacrylic fibers. This ensures our performance clothing will not wear out or break down over time. DRIFIRE flame resistant fabrics provide you peace of mind every time you wear one of our garments. With these flame resistant fabrics protecting you at work, whether you're working a major industrial job in extreme conditions or in life threatening conditions with potential flash fires, you are always protected.
