DRIFIRE Donates Flame Resistant Shirts to 2011 Run for the Heroes

DRIFIRE®, a leader in comfortable flame resistant shirts and clothing for military and commercial applications, supports the House of Heroes and the Run for the Heroes by donating over 140 shirts for participants.

Chicago, IL -- For the second consecutive year, DRIFIRE®, a leading developer of comfortable flame resistant (FR) shirts and FR clothing, has donated its DRIFIRE Comfortable FR Wear t-shirts to the Run for the Heroes Memorial Day event. Run for the Heroes is a 260-mile run and relay across the state of Georgia that takes place over Memorial Day Weekend and is open to all runners interested in supporting U.S. veterans.

The run was started in 2009 by John Teeples, a House of Heroes volunteer, as a way to raise money and awareness for the organization. House of Heroes provides assistance to Veterans and their spouses by providing repairs, improvements and maintenance to their homes at no charge to them. This year DRIFIRE donated over 140 shirts to outfit both civilian and military relay teams as well as individuals participating in the event.

"The Run for the Heroes event is a truly unique challenge and the perfect place to truly put our DRIFIRE moisture wicking t-shirts to the test," said Ana Torres, Director of Marketing. "The moisture-wicking, fast drying, and odor control attributes of our shirts contribute to greater comfort for participants undertaking this great, athletic feat."

The run begins at the National Infantry Museum at Fort Benning, Georgia, and ends in Savannah, Georgia. Individual runners have 120 hours to complete the run, while relay teams of up to eight runners have 40 hours. Runners can follow their own schedule, stopping and starting at any time once the run has begun, but leaving markers at exact stopping point to allow them to pick up where they left off after taking a break. Participants in this year’s event included 10 military relay teams, 7 civilian teams that included an all-women team, and 6 individual runners. The event raised over $70,000 for the House of Heroes.

"On behalf of DRIFIRE, we would like to extend our congratulations to all race participants," concluded Torres.
