DRIFIRE® Partners with Oakley® to Create Latest Innovation in Flame Resistant Apparel

Chicago, IL--DRIFIRE®, the premier provider of comfortable flame resistant (FR) fabrics and protective apparel in the military and industrial markets, collaborated with Oakley® to bring a new high-performance FR fabric solution to the racing market.

Oakley designed four essential base layer garments: a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, boxer brief and long pant utilizing DRIFIRE soft compression fabric—the only FR compression fabric on the market. The four-way stretch material conforms to the body, like a second skin, providing additional performance and comfort properties. The garments are SFI approved and made in the USA. Using patented drirelease® technology, the garments inherently wick moisture and dry four times faster than cotton for optimal performance on the track and in the pit.

Sample garments hit the market on February 23 at the 2014 Daytona 500. Oakley-sponsored drivers Clint Bowyer, Tony Stewart and others wore the Oakley/DRIFIRE base layer under racing suits.

When asked if he liked the new base layer shirt, Bowyer responded, “I love it!”

Having attended the premier event for the new product, DRIRE CEO Darryl Schimeck stated, “We’re excited to bring an innovative garment to a new market with our Oakley partnership. Seeing the drivers’ reactions after wearing it only confirmed it’s an outstanding garment that enhances performance.”

While sample garments are available to Oakley-sponsored drivers, mass market purchase availability begins fall 2014 through Oakley and its select distributors.

DRIFIRE continues to provide innovative fabric and garment solutions to the military and industrial market, and now brings its textile expertise in safety and comfort to the racing sector.
